April 2022 - a simple week
The long weekend was lovely, we set off for Zomba, there was a arts festival which A was super keen to go to.
We stayed overnight at an Airbnb with The Currens. The festival was ok, some good music and some not so good. Mostly art that I'd seen before and frankly not as good as our students work. We did get to eat at a new Greek place, I had the meatballs which were really very good. We went back for breakfast the next day and I had a pitta breakfast. It's the only Greek restaurant that I've seen in Malawi so a real treat.
Sunday, frisbee day was also lovely, we had a little party after with a braii and fire. Two lovely women who were here a few months ago are back joined us. They are stroke nurses setting up a clinic here and so kind of come and go as they have to still do clinic work in the UK. They are so much fun so it was great they could make the party.
PCR tests are no longer required to get in and out of Malawi. Which if we ever get A's passport means travel will be so much easier. Makes BigAs trip better.
Day 2 of extra holiday was very relaxed, TV and eating, garden and sleep. Perfect.
Then into a very short work week. Sarah has gone to the UK for about a week, so I'm in charge. Happily she hadn't left when the fire alarm was set off!
A came second in the monologue competition and won a maths prize, best in get year group. I'm sure that means she got the best bit from both me and Asher.
Friday afternoon I helped supervise a film night, but was done by 6, and then that night saw the return on the monthly burrito night at our local place.
Today I'm hoping to do a bit more in our garden and possibly a bit of online shopping.
I know next week will feel really hard. I'm not really sure what I'll be like on Monday but I guess getting on with the job will help.
I might suggest we go out for dinner to celebrate his life. Doesn't seem possible that a year has gone by.
