getting in a box

BigA arranged for a little dinner party on Saturday, really lovely and a full range of chats. He made some very delicious food too. That was the most exciting part of my weekend and I mostly lost myself in rewatching Bridgeton. I did pop to see E to go over a song for the Folk singing this Sunday. That was nice.

A very good pal of mine tells me she's having a frugal year because, in no small part because she took so many wonderful holidays the year before. I'm not quite going to hit her 64 but it isn't long until my first weekend away with my mum and sister. Certainly the not drinking for a month has helped us be a little more frugal. I've even been trying to refresh my terrible GCSE french knowledge.

School was fine, a couple of year 7s thinking they could talk their way out of being caught truanting my lesson and calling year 9 students parents because their sons had got into a stage box in the lesson. They are not allowed to do that! Overall broadly fine.

I had a review of my spinal surgery this week. All fine there, just want to see if my GP can arrange a physio appointment to see if the pain is muscular or nerve related.

An evening with 2 of my NCT pals with a lovely meal and jigsaw action and a little too much wine.

Busy day yesterday, I went to the school I'm a governor at. Flying visit really but good to meet the interim Head and other staff and students. It was a little strange to hear that they have a few issues that sound like the school hasn't been run as well as it should. That's why visiting was so important because I could see the reality of the place. It was also so very grey, the new Head and I discussed the low stimulation environment (the school caters for children with autism) we agreed that there is very little reliable research on this and the school needs to feel more joyous and celebrate the learning.

I came back for a lovely walk with wonderful U and a delightful evening with S. She made gorgeous food and I decided to be very sensible and didn't stay too late.

Apart from my lunches I've not had to cook too much this week, although I made a large evening meal on a night I'd forgotten BigA was going out and it felt a bit sad eating it on my own.

Have a beautiful week
I now have some new spring flowers blooming - brought a smile to my face.
