I'd had a dream that I woke up at 9:15 - I know I have fascinating dreams. But it wasn't so, as it was just after 7 when I realised - at least I got cuddle and kiss from A before she headed off to The Hub for a full day shift. I decided to renew my weights practice and did a bit, mindful not to push it if I'm going to do it often. The weekend was one of goodbyes to family, it's been lovely making new memories over Christmas and it was accompanied with nice food and A working and me reading. 2 books so far. The bliss of not being SLT, no work panic making me do lots of stuff to feel on top of the job.
The arrival of the Ws signaled the joy of 2026 starting. We kinda set out straight away to meet up with D and her family (From Malawi). It was so lovely to see her and we spent that meal mainly checking in on the goings on at SAIntS and laughing about the days we were all there together. Then after a brisk walk home we, as usual, caught up more and had food and played a game, this one was about pictures and was bloody hard. The next day was Dougal's birthday and he opened his presents that had been displayed in the fireplace for him. He is a very appreciative present receiver and I loved how much interested he showed in them all. Then we had a really lovely breakfast of crumpets and various spreads, all sat around our dining table and then once washed and dressed we headed to Kings Cross for a walk along the canal and into Camden. It's always busy but it really was great to see the boys exploring a bit on their own and we each chose the food we wanted from the countless number of food stalls and choices. |I had intended to have the yorkshire pudding wrap again, but actually after having a good amount over Christmas I went for Thai. The sun was beautiful and made the sitting outside to eat completely lovely. Then to a pub. We had intended to go to Primrose Hill for the view but, even though we knew it was going to sht for NYE we walked there to find it was already shut and so we had to stop off at another pub instead before tubes home where we feasted on cheese and biscuits and crackers before the B joined us for one of their games, Rosie won - I think, I was deep into celebration mode. For midnight we set up to the top of Lordship Rec and watched an extremely impressive number of fireworks across the London skyline. Then to their house where I fell asleep and the others talked. It was so icy when we set off back home but that great feeling of the fast walk and warm coats to keep us warmish.
The next day, as is often the way after a big celebration, we ate bits and watched TV and us were very lazy. The W were much more active and actually got out of the house, even before they went home. I did manage to make an evening meal for before they left, one that Rosie had taught me years ago and although similar my lack of recipe following meant it was an approximation but we all tucked in and enjoyed it.
Speaking of meals on Friday A, having been let down on the getting pizza at San Marco. decided she would cook our evening meal and set about chopping and sorting one of her go to meals at uni - stir fry. It was lovely to be cooked for by her and it was very tasty too. That day we'd got up and taken down the Christmas decorations, had a good old tidy and I made a soup, broccoli and stilton (we have a lot of cheese left despite everyone's best efforts) Then A and I headed into Wood Green - dropping off some old books at a charity shop and a bit of shopping. I happily treated A to a few small things, earrings and gloves. I had anticipated we'd spend more but actually the shops were quite low on stock and the bits I wanted weren't around. We talked a bit about her essay for uni, it's great to chat about things I know about and hear her perspective about our shared love of theatre.
and so the first couple of days of 2026 have been drink free, 2 days 28 to go!
