Sea Air

I met mum and J out of church and popped to the high street to get a couple of best tops. The air was warm but the breeze made it bearable. After a bit of reading in the garden we went for lunch by the sea. A quick catch up with my sister and K over tasty food and then mum and I went for a paddle.

Jo had organized a lovely 'outdoor eating experience' not a BBQ at hers and I happily spent a beautiful evening with my family. Mum and I wandered home in the very warm evening air. The sea air was so welcome compared to the stifling heat of London. The next morning I went to church, as I often do, feeling the familiar comfort of the happy memories of my youth. The demographics have changed but some old (really old) faces said hello. I was delighted to be mistaken for mum's granddaughter. Then there was a meal in the church garden which was nice, the feast day of St Peter and St Paul. I narrowly avoided a seafood stir fry. It is nice to know so may people intend to pray for me.

After a nice cuppa and a few more cuddles I went home via Norwich to meet my high school soul mate. The two of us having reconnected many years ago and still find it funny just how besotted I was with him. An unrequited love that I have often referred to in PSHE lessons as a tale of woe and to remind them how much can change. We had a rather delightful late lunch by the river before I dropped him home and went home to my actual love. Who wasn't home!

My working week was its usual roller coaster of good and terrible. I laughed more than I shouted. I do love the brilliance of teenage logic and how many of them seem genuinely upset that I am not going to teach them for the rest of term.

We had one of BigA's old school pals come over on Monday and we had a very pleasant evening in the garden. And on Wednesday evening I went to the theatre with my drama teacher pal because I'd won the tickets by doing a survey on TES. There were free drinks and we could take our actual glasses into the theatre. The show was Hercules, a stage version of the Disney animation. It was fab, colourful and over the top. Lots of modern staff craft and some older stuff too. G and I really enjoyed it but the drama teachers in us couldn't help but natter about what we'd change if given the chance.

To end off my working week I had a Governors meeting, happily online, which meant I had time to make a parmigiana. With the girls being away BigA and I have enjoyed eating stuff the girls don't really like. Friday was another day of hospital based stuff, CT scan, bloods and a little more art therapy. It was all extremely efficient and I followed my usual ritual of La Forchetta stop off for tea and a bacon roll. When I got home a letter from the DBS was waiting for me, saying that there is no further action and I am not barred from teaching children. Glad to say that I can keep doing that as I like it most days.

This week has been punctuated daily by updates from the girls of their adventures in Copenhagen. Looks like they are having an amazing time and making various acquaintances.
