Paddling Pool Action
My morning was delightful as my still teenage child was already up and in the garden with an iced coffee she'd made herself and I got her tiny paddling pool out and we sat with cool feet while we told each other about the night before. She had seen school friends, including her two favourite history teachers and me with old work school pals.
I'm of course that's age where I was really looking forward to seeing a pal but almost equally delighted when he said he wasn't feeling great so we did not do the bottomless brunch in boiling hot London. Instead I set about doing a cupboard sort out to fit the plastic plates Margaret had donated. I'd taken a good load into school and still have some left. I cleaned one freezer draw and did a general tidy in anticipation of 2 of A's uni pals who were coming for the week ahead. That evening we had a very nice time with a different pal who bought over stuff for a rather lovely evening of cocktails. Very chilled and relaxed especially as I now drink the occasional Margarita and Jamie had brought round high quality tequila.
Sunday was a singing day, another Folk at 33 afternoon and I was so pleased A came and then surprised and delighted that BigA came after his frisbee too. I was really pleased with my solo and loved backing singing too. I could happily be a backing singer as a career I think. Once home we waited for A's uni pals. The two staying for the week got there while I was up but then we had an unexpected 3rd person, who had left her passport in London and had to come back to pick it up from the airbnB but no where to stay, so we unrolled the a sofa bed. I didn't even meet them as they dashed back off in the morning to head to America! So we had quite a full feeling house this week, and I enjoyed feeding the hungry workers when they came back from the install they are doing, always rather grimey.
On Monday I didn't go to my school, instead I went to my school in a Governor at. It was great to see the progress the New Head has made and I felt happy that some things were improving so rapidly. I didn't have any lessons as mine were all in end of term exams. School week was therefore shorter and felt very mixed up as some lessons were invigilating internal exam and quite a bit of after school training. It was still hot but nowhere near the unpleasant heat of the week before, blazers back on. The week culminated in years 7 to 10 going off for sports day and me staying in school to run 4 drama workshops for year 6 Taster Day. It felt a nice level of busy.
