she's home

I had a blissfully uneventful Saturday in which I mainly read a book. Sunday a little busier, skating and a little house party to celebrate our friends twins turning 18. That's was lots of fun and we met lots of family which meant being there felt like we were kinda family too.

BogA had a bit of difficulty finding a vehicle that could fit in ayla's art that is now home. And has been trying to find people to not quote us insane money to fix our drain pipe. At this rate I suspect he'll do half the job himself, the demolition part so they can't say it cost nearly £6000.

The heat has been interesting, the loud and long thunder storm on Monday night woke the house, which included the cats. My school refusing to shut and still, for some unknown reason, insisting on ties on. I did 2 mornings for the training I deliver, so useful for me and does make me pine for a little more autonomy at work. But the longer I'm there the more I remember that the simpler life is often the better one. Certainly less stress. We didn't have to do the training on the mid week that we normally do as the only real concession to how hot the school got over the day. I survived the week and we got a thank you breakfast yesterday.

And of course this week was joy of joys, as A came home after her resounding success in her first year at University. Veggie Lasagna it had to be and very welcome cuddles, although very hot. I was worried she might not make it because the trains were being cancelled due to the heat but happily she did. This country really can't cope with heat or snow.

Last night I headed out to see some of the S lot, I was so very hot and was praying for a bit of rain. We had a lovely time, and we ordered a dish each and a couple of sides and ended up all sharing everything, which meant I got to eat a bit of sea bass, fig salad, courgette fritters, courgette fries, butter grilled veg, parmigiana a bit of raw beef carpaccio and chips!

It was still 28 degrees when I get off home. Malawi got this hot of course, but we could jump in the school pool or hide inside where the buildings had stayed mostly very cool. And I suppose the sun setting at 6:30 at the latest meant more time for the air to cool.

Have a beautiful week and I hope you have rain when you want it.
