Garden Magic
It was so lovely having you stay M&D. We very much enjoyed finishing off the lemon cake.
I woke to BigA sending a WhatsApp to A as in the middle of the night she sent a message to tell us she was in A&E. Her very sensible boyfriend had called 111 and on advice she went in. I'm so often filled with pride for my child and the mature way she told us and kept us in the loop was one of those moments. I was also pleased I'd slept through the first and second messages so woke to a mini emotional rollercoaster ride which happily ended with, she's fine! The Drs confirmed she had done the right thing coming in but actually all is well, just an oddity of life.
Then to getting up, which I reluctantly did, not because I wasn't looking forward to the day more that it still felt so early and I wished I could sleep longer, despite nearly 10 hours of sleep. I'm told this is normal for women of my age. Pondering this I also thought about the fact I'm still very clearly healing from my op, I'm trying to grow a new bit of bone in my spine so yes, I do need sleep. In contrast BigA seems to be fine on less than 6 hours sleep, but I did leave him snoring as I got up. After a lovely breakfast in my beautiful garden I got ready for the day and once dressed had a second breakfast and a quickish chat with Margaret about the plants she thinks we can move, pull up etc and then, like all privileged ladies I left her to get on with all that and went to meet my uni pals - Cheeky hey!
I arrived at Kingscross and sat in the sun waiting for the 3 others to meet up and then to lunch and proper catch up time, children, parents (the ones we are lucky to still have) and partners, the ones we've kept or gotten rid of. And before I knew it, it was time for us all to head home and so I, having the shortest journey to make made it home in time to go over to Dan and Debbie's for the evening. Nattering by a fire outside, and I smelt smoky and left content.
Sunday started with more garden sorting and, enabled by M we got it tip top, then lunch in the garden before I went to roller derby and then to a small gathering of musicians for a very gentle end enjoyable rehearsal for the next folk session.
Then to a very quiet week, just the routine of school and home and I lost myself in a book most evenings. I attended a union meeting in Thursday after school and took along some of the new teachers to the profession who were really glad to go and get a few meal on top of learning about the ways of the NASUWT. Yesterday I had 2 of my new school pals over for dinner and quite a bit of wine, sitting in the garden and enjoying the last of the sun. Lots of fun.
