Sheffield

M and I went on a lovely walk around the reservoir, a beautiful autumnal walk with the sound of water running down to hopefully fill it up. It's very low and despite all the rain they've had it remains so. After a nap we headed to the train station because A had been inspired to visit which was such a lovely treat. Followed by another lovely treat of a really lovely tapas lunch, a really nice variety of different veggie bits and cheeses, really delicious. We took a shortish walk into the Christmas market and it was a good job that I was so full because there were so many good stalls that I would have found it hard not to stuff myself in those too. A got a big bag of candy floss and we wandered to a couple of vintage clothes shops but didn't really see anything. (The smell in the shop put me off) Once back at M's really grand home, with real ceilings and excellent oven we had tea and A got her cat fix with Satsu. We had an Indian takeaway, mainly because you have to feed a student don't you! It was that evening when I felt the first tickle of a cold beginning and although I slept well, even with sharing the bed with A but I knew it would mean a slightly annoying last week of term. I left M and A behind as I set off home, hoping for little traffic and to get back before I had to drive in too much darkness. About 2 hours in and I thought how loud the coach near me was, until I realised it was my car and so decided after a chat with BigA that I was going to head to Rugby.

I decided it wouldn't be sensible to go to the choir concert because I felt a bit rough and didn't want to sing my germs around a hall of people and frankly was looking forward to seeing A who was staying for the night before she and M set off to Mauritius so we had a cheeky chinese and watched a truck load of GoggleBox. I had to get up early the next day for an online training thing and then off to work. The cold that remains is one of those pathetic ones and just really a bit of a sore throat so I'm just feeling the blurrgh of it. That meant looking after myself and not doing a few things I had planned. My last day of term was lovely, a few presents and things to take home but actually it wasn't the last day I went to school. Yesterday I went in to be part of the staff Panto - a W tradition that has all of KS3 coming in to watch the staff make fools of themselves. It was really fun, the students really screamed like they've got their favourite band in front of them. It's a special place and I am sad that I won't be staying. Add the Head pointed out, if a job comes up I can always apply and come back. Then the staff do. Again a nice event with free food and drink. Annoyingly I had a nasty headache that I was finding it hard to shift and headed home where I started on changing bed sheets ready for guests and A's return and then felt utterly knackered so had a nap. I had a short visit from a pal who always makes me feel happy and then BigA came home, he cooked but I just suddenly felt worse again so took myself off to bed. The almost 10 hours sleep feels like it may have done the trick and I feel much better right now. So now to my 3 week Christmas break - another thing I will miss about my current school.
