moving week

My weekend was relatively mundane, house work, and a bit of gardening, one of our house plants has been sprouting loads of off shoots, another 8 or so potted up but no where for them to go. I might leave them on the door step for passersby. I did see a man get very gently knocked over by a car. Both moving so slowly that at first I thought she'd missed him. He seemed fine, cross but fine and I wasn't any use, but an odd experience to see. I carried on to Lidl. Asher went off to help Dan and Debbie in some prep for their move and I did a little bit of Governor reading. Millie worked and then spent Sunday with her dad.

I did a bit of singing with E which was nice. I hope I manage it on Sunday, as it is a song with lots of meaning. Turn, Turn, Turn. More singing at choir this week, one really beautiful piece that is quite complex. And another that got really stuck in my head and lovely compliment from a woman who wasn't as confident/loud as me.

Work wise I have had so many other adults in the classroom with me recently, this is mainly trainee teachers, who are seeing the good, the bad and the ugly! I like talking then through the logic of what I'm doing, and pointing out what best practice is and then why I'm not doing that. Ha! The week flew by and despite having to be really quite firm with the year 9 students it was good overall. On Wednesday BigA drove me to work so he could have the car for D and D's move. I can't quite get my head around the bad luck circling the two of them, but turns out the money wasn't released and so we had unexpected guests that evening, hosting them and their cat for the night. No joke, it's cost them at least another £1000 because they had to pay for their contents to be stored and the labour for another day. Their cat did not enjoy being stuck in A's room and our cats did not like it either. After work on Thursday I got to see their new home. So many boxes, it always seems incredible that you can move somewhere with more space and fill it up so quickly. I intended to help out unpacking on Friday, which I did a bit of but they had quite quickly got to the - we have no idea where to put this - we need shelving - we need time to process. They have a lot of stuff. I took D to my favourite Tottenham cafe and she treated me to lunch and we reciprocated with a takeaway that evening after M arrived and had almost immediately got to sorting bits in their garden. It was a short walk home. It feels nice that they are so much closer now.

I've been able to have one catch up with M this week. BigA sees her more in the day but we don't see her often. WIth it mostly just Asher and me, we've been watching Riot Women - so well written, very powerful in its ability to show the ordinary and extraordinary that women go through every day. Well worth watching but not always an easy watch.

I've been enjoying my WhatsApp chats with A this week, jealous of what she's learning and her describing the things she's doing. It sounds like she's being a model student and I tell her this lots, but my goodness I'm so very proud of her. She also seems to be making herself nutritious food. She'd have hated at least 2 of the dishes I've cooked this week. One chat I had she passed me over (text wise) to a new friend of hers and it was with a fellow Norfolkian. As expected we agreed on the superior quality of the East Anglia's chips. I'll fight anyone who doesn't agree. It always makes me think of the market stalls in Great Yarmouth and how I feel an obligation to take our American friends there one day because they just didn't get the best chips when they visited us.

The cats are fine - S continues to bring in insects and other creepy crawlies. One massive spider and a worm and they seem over the intrusion too.
