The day started with BigA not following birthday protocol as he got up and made me a tea and himself a coffee. He was slightly fascinated by his presents from me, mainly because he didn't really approve of how the books has been produced and I felt a little conned and so much for my plan to do him a cafetiere of the coffee I'd bought him with breakfast. Oh well. Who needs to feel special when they turn 47! Instead I made him and M an alright coffee and we went to the greasy spoon for breakfast. Not Margaret's usual - she was astounded by the size of her omelette, salad and chips. We still haven't had the cheese by the way, I plan on sorting that out soon.
The day ahead was all about the garden for Margaret and me. After her doing most of the work, moving a few things and quite a bit of bulb planting BigA made me another cup of tea. (He doesn't get being spoiled) We relaxed before heading off for a meal at a restaurant that has been shut for a while which is a convenient distance between her two sons homes. Slightly annoyingly though they didn't have our booking and no space so we wandered round the corner to a Turkish place we like and then had a drink at the Beehive. Dan and BigA played pool and us girls agreed we were knackered and left them to it.
By the way next door have given us a couple of plants in exchange for the one we have them. Nice to do swaps.
I had to get up early on Sunday to go and get my surgical follow up MRI scan for my spine. Wonderful BigA drove me so I could get there without the stress of trying to find the hospital which I've never been to before. Yes, there are some! I found my way back and it was a bit of a walk to the train station but thankfully my app did a good job once back we had lunch and then we said cheerio to Margaret and I headed to the first Folk 33 gig I've attended since my op. I had a real sense of things stepping back into the life I had. I checked my school email, not sure why, habit maybe and was pleased to see that none of the emails in my inbox needed any action except for deleting them. Choir on Monday was lovely too, I was quite tried but glad I went.
It was the last week before half term, a half term that has flown by. I really do think 4 day weeks might be the way to go. I attended the school show rehearsal and so I'm basically now back to normal working hours. Although I have no intention of reminding anyone I can now do duties again! The students at the school are so keen to say hello when they see me, some classes look like they have seen a long lost pal if they catch you in a corridor. Overall a lovely working week.
My mum arrived on Thursday and so began my half term break. BigA got his pressies, watch her was bet please when and then some online training and mum and I had wine and Chinese.
As is my fortnightly routine, I got up and set off for art therapy. And then returned for time with my mum and decisions on what to do based mainly on the weather. We had a lovely walk although the sun disappeared for it and when home I made a nice meal and we watched 2 films I haven't seen in years, I'm not sure mum was very interested but the 4 of us were able to snuggle under various blankets.
Today we might go to the shops who knows.
