RTW

I didn't sleep brilliantly and woke up too early, perhaps excited to be heading off to see R and M. I packed and did a little bit of general stuff before we set off. I was pleased I'd thought about using one of those shoulder pillows that people have on planes. It really helped. Once there, I was delighted to see R and M, we helped get the hall ready and then we headed to theirs for lunch and meeting new people. They have great friends and although I'm sure I talked far too much it was a lovely evening overall. I was a bit sad I couldn't risk the dancing but did love taking pictures and chatting away. Rosie did a great speech, a lovely level of funny and meaningful. Her youngest did a spontaneous one too, and I was delightful to see that he has matured so much and I felt very proud of him.
We had a nice breakfast the next day having stayed in a local hotel and then we went back to the Wagner's for a morning and afternoon of more chats and lots of tea. I was sad to leave and once again wished so much that we could all live back on campus.

This week I went back to work. I was nervous and felt a bit strange about it all. I realised how few people I know and yet how many people were so obviously pleased to see me. I had a risk assessment and good chats. Having been in charge of many an INSET day, I did my best to look interested in the presentations, it was all a little dry but did what it needed to. I know you'll be pleased to know that I was sensible and did half days and have been clear that I have to take it easy for now until I build up my stamina. It was mainly admin and getting things ready and then on Thursday I had to actually meet children, but no teaching until next week. I'll be going home at lunch for that week too to review if it is too much or I can manage more.
It was lovely to see my form. They were mostly very pleased to see me, a few not showing it and they were mostly thrilled to see each other.

A headed off to Portugal this week with G. He has family there and they have see them but they also have been having plenty of time doing sightseeing. I've missed her.

With M out at work or with friends that has meant BigA and I have been on our own a few times. We had one of his frisbee friends over one evening and yesterday we went for an evening walk and ended up in a cocktail bar so had a spontaneous night out. It was very pleasant and the vegan food the place did was delicious.

A almost normal feeling week - my neck still hurts and so I'm trying a cream to ease that. Not much luck yet. I'm sure eventually it will be a distant memory.
