Lasagna
This week I have once again been taking it relatively easy. Although I did go out with BigA and D on Saturday to be in the audience for a live podcast recording of No Such Thing As A Fish. If you download it you might be able to hear BigA chuckling away and laughing loudly. We went to a couple of pubs after and had a very pleasant evening together. I haven't done much else though... I did almost nothing on Sunday, I had intended to do so many things, my main achievement was to finish a book I was given for my birthday. It is a great book, full of characters that made me want for them and laugh with them and a fair amount of crying because of them. 'Sorrow and Bliss'. I also made an ok risotto.
I'd been feeling anxious about work, partly worried about teaching classes I know and struggled a bit with and some feelings of the fact the contract finishes in April. In the fast moving world of teaching, I'll have to start seriously looking in January. Right now I just want to stay. But my new year 7 classes were lovely this week, with one boy saying at the end of the lesson, 'Mame, you should be a comedian' I thanked him but later reflected that either I have the sense of humour of an 11 year old boy, or he has the sense of humour of a 47 year old woman. Leaving at the start of lunch each day was very sensible, better to build up my neck strength. It is still a bit painful but I can absolutely tell it is getting better. My energy levels are also improving.
After my last working day this week I came home to rest my head and neck, BigA made me a delicious lunch and then I watched a bit of TV and while mindlessly scrolling saw an advert for a new menu at our local community pub. So the four of us headed over for dinner, which was lovely. Very nice fusion of Indian and Mexican tacos. Then without realizing it, we'd arrived in time for the pub quiz - we can't fourth. A lovely evening.
A came back from her holiday, she had a lovely time but has a nasty cold. Once back she reluctantly set about sorting her stuff for university. We set off today! M and her went for a meal with the teachers and most of the students from her history class. They seemed to have a great time. I've never had the urge to meet up with any of my ex students so soon after but I do love finding out how they are getting on.
BigA has been wonderful, taking me and picking me up from work. I was thinking I might be able to drive, but I didn't want to risk feeling too sore to get home. Because I'm doing more at work I'm not doing as much at home.
Last night we had our London based family over for dinner. Although D couldn't make it because her mum broke her hip and had an operation yesterday.
We did Friday night, I'd forgotten bits if it but the tune came back to me. It was lovely and special to celebrate together. I made a veggie lasagna.
And today we set off for Liverpool to drop A off, for her to start this exciting and important part of her life. I'm actually a little jealous.
