Happy guests

Some positive news to start. BigAwas awarded the contract he'd been waiting on and, despite them being typically late with letting him know, now gives us a little more security for a few years. He is now very busy.

I hope my husband knows (I do tell him) just how much I appreciate it when he brings me a morning cup of tea in bed. He doesn't even drink tea and as I have no clue how to make coffee to his standard in his machine, I never return the favour.

I wasn't hung over but I was worn out from a busy birthday and found it hard to get out of bed. I did eventually and as we said goodbye to one lot of guests our next arrived. I was so pleased to have M tackle the garden, getting it ready for late summer. I was only able to watch but I know soon I'll have reached the time I'm allowed to garden again. The weeds never stop. We had a lovely couple of days culminating in a BBQ where, as always I made far too much food. BigA cooked away and I was still feasting on left overs a few days later.

A and I have spent a few days mooching about getting her some not so necessary but wanted bits for uni. Very sensibly this has included what she is referring to as a freshers flu emergency pack, complete with rehydration sachets and lemsip. I got myself a sketch book, ready to use my rediscovered art passion a art.

We've had a few guests and flowers. My wonderful mother and aunty S paid us a visit too. Very lovely and nice to be treated to a takeaway. We took a short walk and mainly chilled out.

I took a pal to my favourite Tottenham cafes one day and then met fabulous S for a night of chats and lager. The next day I took one of my longest walks yet to meet up with another friend who I haven't seen in years. It was nice to catch up although it sounds like he's had a pretty tough time of late, almost as tricky as I've had. But both of us are still standing.
I've been reading a lot this week. The gift of books has been lovely. Just finished James by Percival Everett. Well worth reading.

I went to sit in Clissold park yesterday, to see O and to watch BigA play frisbee. It was nice to meet people who all had lovely things to say about him. A few people happy to see I really existed too.

I hope you have a lovely week - one more official week of holidays for me. I am planning on starting the new term but will of course do my best to take it easy. I won't really know what it feels like until I try.
