Speed boat and curry
After a little weights and a nice shower I headed to The Thames for a day with one of my oldest pals - at in from 6th form - to do a speed boat trip. It was loads of fun. Classic music of our youth blasting us and a funny tour guide and a good face full of spray. We whooped and laughed. We got Thai food and I had a big slice of chocolate fudge cake that made me think of my dad.
Once home it was a quick change (I'd splattered Thai food down my new top) and we headed to Tetbury. We left the girls behind to work and study. We arrived to the smells of lovely food and lovely hugs. Our weekend was very relaxing, R and I did morning yoga in the open air looking out onto the fields and expansive clouds. I hopefully taught M how to hang up washing and we had walks and lush food, one evening a Sri Lankan curry. All too quickly we came home and found a pretty tidy house so my next morning wasn't all about tidying up for the imminent arrival of my mum and Hilman. We managed to watch a film that wasn't awful, Nona's but did make me cry a few times. And we taught mum how to play code names, at which she was very successful.
I woke up on the morning of my 14th wedding anniversary to breakfast in bed, the tradition of eggs and bacon going strong and some cards and very welcome gifts too. Mum, A and I headed to Tottenham Hale to do a bit of shopping while M looked after Hilman. Then, to avoid revision the girls joined us as we played a couple of card games and we spent much of it in a studied silence or laughter. That evening we had another BBQ and a couple of more local pals came over to enjoy the food, wine and good company.
The girls set off for a holiday revision session in school on the same morning that mum headed back home, the scent of her perfume lingered on my dressing gown and I wanted to keep it on rather than get dressed, and then to a day of life admin. Doing little bits and pieces for work, nothing major, a bit of scheme writing and marking. That evening we went to meet up with BigA's parents as they are cat sitting for his brother. We had a really lovely curry at the place right by them and I particularly liked the mushroom dosa. My tastes have certainly changed over the years.
I found out this week that I'd won 2 tickets to see Hercules at the theatre, I have to take a teacher friend and it seemed obvious to me that would be my pal Gina, drama teacher and able to get there! Nice to have a little good luck.
Last night was my Roller Derby graduation. Officially back in the main league and so this weekend I'll be setting out at a different time for practice. We headed to see Olivia first as she lives close to the pub and had a summer picnic - so lovely to enjoy the sun and open space.
