Easter Bunny

The Easter weekend began with M and A getting ready to head off for a picnic that they had been planning for a while. I love listening to the two of them chat and plan together. They are good for each other and I hope that they keep in touch for all their years to come.

I decided to apply for some examiner work, a good way to earn a few more pennies and, if accepted, really helpful training for how to help my students. I also felt a looming oddness about the week to come. New job, hospital and my first ever official day not working in a working week, except I couldn't face filling in all the dates for the application and on Tuesday I got a call to say the appointment has been moved to next week. So really lovely that I got to see my mum for an extra day but quite frustrating to have to wait another week.

Easter Sunday was lovely, starting with an easter egg exchange before both the girls headed off to work. Then M and D arrived and we had a pleasant lunch at our new garden table and then a bit of supervised weeding. I think I know what I'm looking for now. The rain has really helped bed those in M and it really is blooming, so thank you again. Once the girls got home they did their Easter egg hunt and I finished a very well timed Sunday Roast. I of course did bread sauce, making far less of it than usual as it really does seem only I like it and the stuffing dad did. The Monday was lovely too, a trip to the garden centre, along with half of North London and we were treated to more plants that gave M and me an excuse to spend a few more hours in the garden. That evening D came over and we had dinner followed by a fire in the garden. I broke my lenten fast with a glass of white wine and was happily not feeling any worse for it the next day.

I was nervous about my first day for various reasons, but all in all it turned out to be good and I met 2 of my classes, who were a bit naughty and seeing what they can get away with but fine considering. Although the days feel very busy it is good to be doing what I know, some lessons were more successful than others. I had a theatre trip with yr 11 and the speed of a 3 day week was fascinating. Before I knew it I had my Friday off, which I spent reading a book because, A, I could and B, O came for dinner the night before and I had too much red wine and I didn't feel like doing anything big.

Mum had travelled to be with me and BigA in that meeting  that was postponed so, although frustrating in some ways, I got to spend an evening with my mum and she took M and A for breakfast the next morning. It was nice to make her a cup of tea and a brief chat before I set off for work.

I am a little reluctant to tell you about the ongoing mess at the now old school. they changed the terms of the deal which has resulted in me handing in my resignation and then, once that was done they sent me the outcome to the hearing. My union rep is going to appeal that. It honestly feels like it might never end but for now I have to try to get on with the job I have and appreciate that the Head, is a good man who can't believe what I've been through and is 100% supportive. It is so nice to have that in place, although this job is just a maternity cover so who knows what I'll be up to.
