fish and chips

BigA and I set off to Sally and Si's for the majority of Saturday and had a rather lovely lunch and then, my favourite - cheese for tea and we played a modern game of trivial pursuit, which was full of questions about things I have no clue about but any one under the age of 18 might.

Sunday was lovely, beginning with BigA and me under my heated blanket watching TV and then I set off to have my monthly singing session. It really helps my mood and feels good to open my lungs. Great to meet more of Ed's family too.

M and D came for a few days. The garden is now totally ready to spring - muck spreading complete. Although Muck doesn't go as far as we hoped!
M&D took me to a lovely local place for lunch. One of my new favourites. We were treated to a small cup of mulled wine as we left. That evening I'd planned a night with 2 NCT pals, all of us loving cheese, chats and a healthy reticence of our children turning into adults and the inevitable empty nest. Perhaps a glass too many and a very late night for me, not making me a beer good host the next morning.

I got to have a walk with U this week and saw the Southgate School show, which brought back many a memory of the rehearsals in that hall and challenges faced by putting on a show. Good to see old faces too. Phil joined me and we did laugh at the budget difference for his (Private) school and this large comp. The VAT hit not making much difference so far. Has it begun?

On Thursday we had meetings at the girls school, a very short chat with their tutors - both of them shining examples of students and doing well. We had a greasy spoon breakfast before. They both had their other jobs that afternoon and I set off into central London to see the Wallace Collection with Joe followed by wanders to other places and finally home to a night of laughing as the girls got ice-cream and we giggled through a film.

Yesterday I set off for my other home and have woken up this morning in my old childhood room. Mum did her usual - warming food for lunch, care and as it was Friday - fish and chips for tea. You cannot beat the Gorleston chip.

That was followed by TV - very heart warming film and then to bed, looking up at the dustbin lid lampshade.
