Party Tim

This week I've been singing, finding my voice again. I went to Ed's and with a bunch of teenagers that are very much into music we tried out a few things. It was lovely to be singing, even in someone's front room. And I've been trying to get my head around the songs for Daren's tribute night.

Monday was all about M - the presents to start, then a birthday breakfast and out for dinner. So lovely to spoil her and she was thrilled to get cards and gifts from her 'not' family as we sometimes refer to us all. We had a lovely meal at a Turkish Place in Crouch End. I was so full I felt like I might explode. She also had a party yesterday, strange to think of her as an actual adult and A will be soon enough. They continue to benefit from my at home status with a couple of lifts to and from school. A has been busy sending off links to portfolios for her potential courses at uni. Each one is slightly different from the next so she has to do one for each. Last night at get party she was excited to get the house ready and we got bits and pieces for it, we had offered various ideas but she opted for a night at home with her mates. I feel very lucky to have these two young women in my care. They make me ooze with pride so often. BigA and I went to they pub for a bit then watched TV on my laptop upstairs too keep out of the way.

This week has been quite sunny and I've been able to get out on some lovely walks, some with wonderful pals who are not working during the day and into the garden a bit too - harvesting some rocket, although it doesn't get much sun at this time of year. I've done more on the hallway - each time we think we are ready to do more painting we see a lot more holes to fill. I've also watched the whole of RIvals, which is a strange mix of nostalgic flashbacks, in moments like the wrapping of a Fruit and Nut and the love of all shades of brown and orange at times then juxtaposed with the horrid misogyny and sexism and far too many boobs and bums. I used to soak up the idea that a 'bad' man just needed a good woman. How happy I am that I met and bagged BigA, a true feminist. I've moved onto rewatching Wolf Hall, which so far has not had any fruit and nut or boobs.

I went to the cinema for the first time in ages, Blitz. A powerful insight into some of the truths of that time and the reaction to the ongoing destruction. It made me think of those in today's world who are suffering as bombs and chaos surround them. A very well acted piece that I am glad I've seen. After that I hot footed it to Finsbury Park to meet up with Clare, old uni mate, for a drink and bite to eat. I am so very happy to have so many wonderful people in my life, who at this hard time are just pulling in and loving me. Understanding the hardness of the wait and feel cross on my behalf.

No news still - despite me chasing this week. I'll keep that up now, perhaps they'll get fed up with me.
