Decking

The bliss of the weekend, they are needed aren't they. BigA and M headed off to a uni open day and after a tidy, I got ready for my COVID jab. What a difference from last year, in and out in less than 5 minutes and got the flu one while I was there. Oh man, my arms really hurt for at least 3 days. But no other symptoms so happy about that.

Once home, with a steaming loaf of bread A and I munched away before she set off for work and I set about updating my supporting statement for the Head application and a few other bits and pieces for school. Quite pleased with it and the help from Joe was wonderful and welcome. That evening we headed out for a pals birthday. I dressed up, did my make up and put on heels that I admit mainly slowed me down and hurt my feet but I felt good. Then we spent the evening outside and I didn't take my coat off. So much for the dress.

Sunday was very similar, except for the jabs and going out bit. BigA managed to get a fair bit of the decking done, it really will be lovely. The garden still blooms and the colours help stave off the greyness of this Autumn. I should try and get out to get on top of the weeds, although without Margaret's expert eye I'm now a little confused on what to keep and what to dig up.

And so to work - another hard week.  On Wednesday I got an email telling me I wasn't shortlisted for the Headship but I'm very aware that's a blessing.

That evening my cousin from Germany came to stay. Suzanne and I caught up from her visit last year and, when prompted by BigA to work out what our actual relationship is, (I'm still not sure!) talked about great gran D. She has less pleasant memories of her than me. But we both chuckled at her strength that, as an older woman, made her formidable - stubborn perhaps. I think I've inherited a little of that.

The girls have been busy this week, lots going on at school. A not enjoying art, which is such a shame given it's the subject she was most passionate about. I've emailed to see if being a more pushy parent may help. They both went out for a comedy night mid week and are both working too. The energy of the young!

BigA has also been out to lots of schools, travelling all over the country, sometimes for a 1 hour workshop. His 'boss' continues to be a real irritant.

And so to another weekend. Phew.
