I very much miss having a house keeper, mostly the regular bed sheets changing (and ironed) and the ironing. I'm thinking of this because on Saturday I mostly changed sheets and washed them while the sun was still shining. I thought I might not have been able to because my mate was coming over, she was however almost definitely still a bit drunk from the night before, didn't want to cancel so came and then, after a short spell in the garden we agreed it would be best for her to get some sleep. I tucked her up on our sofa bed and left her with water. This gave me time to get several loads done and do some weeding and a few other things.
The girls worked a fair amount of the weekend. Both shattered by hour busy they were. And before we knew it - back to school.
With BIgA away M has been doing lots of the cooking. We missed him and still had loads of leftovers because we forget how much he eats. He'll always polish off the evening meal.
Work was very intense this week, it has been the most eventful I think. The most dramatic moment though, I missed because I was teaching, but needless to say it resulted in
1 - police having to be on stand by
2 - a member of staff injured by a parent
3 - adults shouting 'suck your mum' to another adult
4 - one boy very unlikely to step foot in our school again
5 - a LADO call. No one wants a LADO call! (They investigate schools for all sorts of not keeping children safe stuff)
But I was proud of how let staff dealt with it and felt it showed us at our best in many ways, dealing and coping with a crisis. And it's resulted in some important conversations around culture.
It's felt like a week of meetings - mainly ones with professionals, that result in most people realizing there isn't any way to keep children 100% safe and me really feeling like children should not be allowed to have phones.
I was very happy for my husband's return. He's caught a cold though and sounded awful. But back to getting the decking done. I haven't seen him much though!
Then last night I went to a gig - Terrovision. Although I got bit confused and was telling people it was Aerosmith. Now, they are not a band in know - either one. But I still managed to enjoy the evening, stomping away wearing a T-shirt provided for me by Phil. The heady mix of sweat, beer and watermelon vape making it a memorable and quite sensory experience. I didn't know a single song but like all good bands there was enough to repeat to feel like I did. It was genuinely good fun. I headed home via a very cheeky MacDonalds which I think might be contributing to my headache. Not enough water, it was very hot and I think I'm dehydrated.
So good to see Phil.. Live music always makes me think of Daren. But I'm thinking of him everyday so it was good to remember singing with him. In fact this week I found a folder in my drop box I'd forgotten about with a recordings of songs from a live gig at did over 20 years ago. A listed to a few. I think she was impressed.
