Moulin Rouge

After he'd done even more DIY BigA and I dropped M at the tube station and then he drove us the longish journey to see a couple of people we met in Malawi at a BBQ at his sister's house. All very pleasant, I met their baby. We when super close but it was nice to catch up and see them out of the African setting. And then the drive back when BigA resumed some DIY. I watched TV.

We won't see M for the summer now, feels a bit strange to not have her around. She's in France now but almost wasn't because she forgot to take her passport. Luckily she realised the day before do A and I set off to Bedford to drop it off
A 3 hour round trip but we were happy to help. Getting back in time for A to head off to post volleyball with a newish and very good friend called Selen.

A has been so impressive with her volunteering that they've offered her paid shifts at the Hub as assistant manager (apparently there are a few of them but still very impressive.) agreed only got a couple of shifts over the holiday which I'm pleased of because I like spending time with her.

And so to the beginning of busy house time. Mum, Jo and Hillman came for the day on Monday. The best benefits of being back that we can do little visits. As always it was really lovely to see them, have cuddles and talk about all sorts. I didn't have to put up with too many dog farts!

Tuesday was kinda a day I'd set aside to do some school stuff. But didn't because of the passport dash. I'm giving myself the time off and will worry about it when all our guests have gone.

A lady called Bella arrived that evening, an Australian between tenancy agreements, she didn't want to have to head back home and we figured we could squeeze her in. With M being away. It was/is a little bit of a squeeze while the wonderful Currens are here for a week. 4 of them, 3 of us and 1 Bella. But honestly not too bad and we all seem to fit in without any issues.

It was Wednesday when we picked up the Curren's bags and I took the two female ones back to ours while the male ones went to frisbee with BigA - immediately falling into comfortable chats and reminiscing. The next day we did a greasy spoon brunch followed by a walk around Tottenham, some parks and streets, a lovely little cafe I hadn't been in before and then into town for a concert. De la Soul and bands like them. We managed some how to get Leon in, he's 11 and it was an over 16 event. We literally weathered a storm - the music having to stop because of the electricity in the air. We sheltered under our picnic blanket and discovered which of our coats were not waterproof. Then, after an hour or so we dried out and danced away in the much cooler field.

On Friday we had a gentle morning, A and Solen heading off together for a morning - and both decided to get their ears pierced. But you can't add earning to the present list for A because she didn't have ID so they wouldn't do it.

The rest of us headed into the city center, a really lovely wander through three city center, and I went to bits and saw things I have never done before, including the changing of the guard. We ended up at a meal which was delicious and spicy before we went to a West end show - Moulin Rouge. I don't know what I expected but it was so entertaining, lively and a spectacle. The acting didn't capture our hearts, evidenced by at least three of us suppressing some giggles at the death scene. One moment of it very much like a GCSE drama piece that I would have told my students to scrap. Way too much cheese.

Add you can see fun packed so far and more to come.
