Disc Golf
Oh how quickly the new term rolls around, I've spent the majority of the week on school focused work. But before that , the last few days in Gorleston were lovely and the sun did its best to shine for us. Saturday did get predictably messy and fun. We sort of tried to be sensible with cake first but very quickly the pims and aperol spritz came out. The boys gatecrashed our afternoon and then after some pizza the Jacobsberg ones and I went back to the Thirsty Crow and danced the night away. Evidence on Facebook I'm told!
Surprisingly I didn't have too thick a head in the morning and woke to the knowledge that mum was going to do a roast very much helped. and I very much enjoyed the Sunday lunch. I hadn't realised how much I was craving one. Sunday didn't feel complete as a child until we had had dad's roast and I certainly miss them. In those 3 days we did lots more walking about, the most of it on Monday when we went to Caldecott Hall for a game of disc golf. BigA worked out the handicaps and as a result mum won. She's a natural.
A light lunch and then home. Then BigA and I went to see some Roman ruins and then back in time for a very nice curry. Drinks and family love to follow.
We headed back early on the Tuesday for BigA to pick up The Bradys - perhaps more accurately their luggage. More Americans that we know from Malawi!
It was lovely to see them and we just had a simple wander to the park and splash in the paddling pool. I had to pop off as I had an MRI of my spine and brain. A very quick one (cue joke about not much to find) won't know the outcome until next month when I go to clinic. I'm hoping I can consolidate the scans and clinics for next year so I can have one appointment, one set of waitings and one set of good news!
And then essentially I was back to work. Each day full and mixed with frustration and relief and stuff and talking and sorting and ultimately hope for things to be better. Only time will tell but I am feeling more like I'm doing a job that I love and am good at. We, the 3 SLT feel like an actual team and, despite the mess that's been felt behind, we have a plan. But they were 3 long days and at times I felt a little overwhelmed at the task ahead. Some worms in cans that we have begun to find. Happily my wonderful husband has ensured that upon my return from a hard day in the office we have had lovely food. And very much plant based, which as I had loads of delicious meat while in Norfolk is probably very good for me.
This morning my email is a little later because I was woken(ish) by my wonderful Rosie and I had to creep downstairs to face time and catch up on our summers. The cats delighted that someone is up and they are running around and tumbling over things, slightly annoyingly I think that's why one of our house plants looks rather squashed.
A has her longest shift at the hub today and essentially she is probably in charge today.
