do enjoy a drink but I really do enjoy waking up on a Saturday morning and having the energy I want to get on with a day. So I didn't drink last Friday. I did a bit of tidy and made a lasagna for the evening meal and then I had booked myself in for an eye test. My plan was to get a couple of pairs, having realised how difficult things would be if I lost my ones or had an unfixable pair. And as I was heading into Woodgreen I planned too, to get some stuff for end of term goodbyes, thank you cards and a few bits for me. Busy morning. The appointment was good, eyes healthy despite the issues with my macular hole etc. This optician was very good at doing her very best to check the vision in my mostly blind eye and that's the first time I've done the test with what was one huge letter.

The salesman was very nice too, I explained that I had a very small head. He smiled and said there were two brands that were usually smaller frames. I like that he had hope, but nope off we headed to the children's glasses. Me making a joke that I didn't want a pair with spider man on them, but the pair I liked the most had Mickey Mouse on the side. He didn't want to laugh and was very professional but we did agree that a 45 year old woman, one who is trying to gain some semblance of respect from students and colleagues, shouldn't pick Micky Mouse glasses so I didn't. I then happily wandered to get a few little gifts for A's birthday and bought a couple of plants from a lady at a roadside stall.

Back home to make lunch for my hungover husband and M and a bit of gardening. And then the joyous arrival of Rosie and Anna. Anna stayed, to do work experience at my school. Rosie, BigA and I sat in the garden admiring the flowers and colour and chatted away, the lasagne cooking away and we waited for A to return, she'd been to pride with her mate Oscar. We all enjoyed the food and then the girls, all three of them set off to a gig. So satisfying to think that they met 7 years ago and are still spending time together and enjoying it.
Sunday morning rolled in and we decided to have brunch at the Portuguese cafe around the corner and then Rosie and I popped to the garden center - I was keen to get a few more plants to fill out the last bit of the flower bed. With sadness I dropped her off at the tube on the way back and then headed home to my family, which was, for the week, one person bigger.

It was really lovely having Anna stay and come to work with me. All the staff who worked with her were full of praise. She was a breath of fresh air, getting on with any job we have her. Nothing too much trouble and she probably did more in her the days with us than some do in half a term. She was only with us until Thursday morning.

It's also been a joy to watch M and A get used to a world of work. M at a law firm and A working for a charity that do dance and mentoring for children. Quite different worlds. They have enjoyed it but also got a little bored at times. The real world!

I had Thursday off for vote day. So I took the opportunity to go out with Jonny and Ebony for the evening, it's nice not to work about having to get home early.

BigA woke me up with breakfast in bed. What a treat. We went to vote together and then I had a lovely day sorting and gardening. I went to bed but BigA wanted to stay up. He had almost no sleep. Happily I woke up to a new government. I'm disappointed in my home town. Overall a very interesting result

And then last night we had over pals for food and laughs and drinks. I didn't heed my own sensible choice of the week before and now I have a bit of a headache. But it was fun.
