The call
With a bad night's sleep I didn't make it up and off to church on Saturday but did get out of bed to wash and then spend a bit of time with my sister. Mum and I had a gentle wander down the high road after lunch, and tried out a new cafe. We headed out to see my niece Jessie that evening. It was good to see her and wish her all the best for her wedding for Wednesday.
It was a good weekend in lots of ways, dinner at Jo's and time with mum, all tinged with sadness in part because of Conrad's anniversary but also that Monday was Alice's funeral. I'd been allowed the day off work and I was glad to be there with her family. Mum spoke beautifully at the funeral and she'd organised the wake at hers. Such a strange and hard day. I didn't really want to leave but off I went, back to my London home.
On Tuesday morning we got 'the call' Ofsted were due in the next day. There wasn't a huge amount I could do, we'd been lucky to get the delay and I'd hoped more could be done to impress but it was all mostly just going to be what it was. 2 more strange days that felt like the were lasting forever. I felt sad to not be at Jessie's wedding but relieved I hadn't had to decide if I should go or not.
The inspection was an ungraded one. So we are technically still good. The report isn't going to be out and official until after Easter. What we do know if that we were lucky for it to happen as it did. Bruce gets to leave the school as a 'good' school. But we know it would have been requires improvement if it had been graded. I think the assessment was fair. We were lucky on some of the questions asked and perhaps more of ones that were not.
Last night I went out with an old pal and was able to decompress. We laughed a lot, she's a retired head teacher and so totally gets all the bonkers stories. She also came to Malawi when we were there about 5 years ago and so knows about bits of that life too.
I woke early as usual today but got back off to sleep only to be rudely awoken by the builders next door who have decided to use today to bang the wall of our bedroom. Given their previous skill I'm half expecting the wall to fall down.
Everyone else is fine - but I gent seen much of anyone this week. The cats too enjoying life.
