Shakespeare
I was in a bit of pain last week but still managed to get to the theatre. We saw a very interesting version of The Merchant of Venice at The Swan. Thanks to Margaret and Dick. It had been cut a fair amount and Shylock was a woman. Set in 1937. The play began with some Jewish prayer and I felt a strange sense of something perhaps like nostalgia.
We set off home earlish on Sunday as M had plans with her cousins and BigA had frisbee. My mate came over that afternoon too. Having worried all weekend about my fob it didn't come to much. I blame my mother for her very strict key rules. Mind you it does mean I tend to be very careful. Maybe another reason I was so frustrated by not having it.
School involves a lot of meetings about how we can be part of a much bigger picture of keeping children safe. The staff here hold so much knowledge and I find myself feeling a bit out of my depth. but all the more reason that certain systems are developed and it becomes less about what you remember and more about what information we save in the right places.
I did my level 3 safeguarding training this week. So much information and more in my head that needs to be sorted. It feels a lot. And then yesterday my first encounter with a member of staff that needed a more than frank follow up. He's been allowed to get away with too much. Overall it's still feeling like a good place to be.
I saw my wonderful pal Joanna in the week and another pal came over yesterday and together when Edgar and Dan we had a good meal and chats. Happy to be sociable.
The work began on the bathroom and well, it's mostly involved finding out that there is more damage to the infrastructure of parts of the house than we anticipated but we are just glad that the bath hadn't fallen through the ceiling into the kitchen.
Oh the joy of home ownership but I'm reminding myself that we are the lucky few who have a home to call our own. And a downstairs loo!
The cats are fast wanting to explore but we need to keep them in a bit longer, until the work is all done.
