New Term

My Saturday was lovely, A and I walked slowly to the Hub café and had a tea and ciabatta sandwich and she handed in her volunteer form, like her dad, she is more keen on this than trying to get paid work. I think it will be great work experience as well as doing something for our community. I broke the back of my NPQH assignment and was happy to check in on some school stuff. I happily finished it off on Sunday and submitted it so I can forget that one now. A did art most of the day and that made me very happy. I recall spending full days in my room as a teen, painting and creating. Ruined the carpet and could often forget to eat, but I felt so good doing it. Happily she's less messy and willing to do it near me as I tapped away. M came home too, and so we're back to the four of us, well 6 with the kittens.

This week we have also discovered the cause of two patches of mould and warped floorboards and now intend to get the bathroom redone, it wasn't actually on our initial list of things we wanted to do but needs must. I had a great chat with my sister on style and plans. Not looking forward to having to have it done, I suspFect it will mean trips out to shower for a few weeks. Now that I'm back on a consistent payroll we can plan that a bit.

My working week was good, BigA, my ever wonderful husband drove me in and picked me up and I spent quite a bit of the week just getting things set up and sorted. And although I well remember my dad's advice when I began teaching "try not to do everything at once" I had to really bite my tongue on some unbelievable folders with soooooooo much stuff in them. Documents from before 2010 and folders named New Folder containing all sorts of utter random stuff. I had a good tidy of my new office and moved some very random things out of there too. I kept the two judges wigs for my drama cupboard, which doesn't actually exist but is on my wish list. I'm slowly getting used to everyone's names and feel so happy that I could get in for the start of term. I am being sensible - promise.

I went out with friends last night which was a fab tonic - feeling remarkably human and normal. It involved my longest walk there and back and other than my jeans rubbing a bit, was risky fine. I still can't quite believe that it's not even been 3 weeks and I feel so fit and well. 2024 has begun well.
