The weekend was really lovely. Off to the park run - I still walked it with my girls followed by croissants and a tidy. BigA went out to meet friends and the girls headed out to get their nails done. And I waited in for my - cousin is the best fit - Suzanne from Germany. Her dad was my grandad's brother. We talked easily and happily, she met the girls when they got back and then went to the café in the park - the hub for lunch. I hadn't been back in there properly since we got back and I was flooded with memories of plays, parties, BigA working (too hard) me serving and all sorts of other times we sat, A's art class and magic lessons. I'd forgotten just what a big part of our lives it had hosted.
That afternoon the girls got ready for M's birthday party and once the guests had arrived I set off to meet up with BigA, Debbie and Dan for Vietnamese food. Then off to the pub, again one with plenty of happy memories. The girls had a lovely evening, less eventful than the last 'party' they had, thank goodness. Sunday was a delightful day at Sally and Si's great food, lovely roast dinner and fab cheese. The girls were both very tired from the night before but being cooked for and fed lots was a perfect way to end the weekend.
The working week has had the usual ups and a few downs. All a little better than the week before and some moments of lovely. Like singing with the chamber choir, hitting the top f# and then even higher. I could feel it though. Edgar came for dinner on Tuesday and bought a lovely bottle of wine. So I took a diversion from my now usual alcohol free week days. It was very nice. Once again a 4 day week as I had my MRI at Guys yesterday - I tired too find out a date but in still don't have one. The MRI was just the kidneys so quicker than my usual. Good to know they will have a recent scan to work from. I guess that means they know just what they are doing. The girls also had a day off because of INSET and BigA made us all a lovely breakfast with leftover mash potato, made into pancakes. A great way to start what was a lazy day.
This week A and I have started to go for evening walks. We agreed that we benefit from getting out and stomping the pavements. We chat as we go and have been laughing quite a bit too. A good tonic to the dark nights.
The girls have really stepped up on the chore front and so I very much feel like it's very equal in our household. They feel the scores are unfair and that BigA doesn't get the credit for the random stuff he does. I agree but he doesn't want things on the list that we can't all do. They suggested a random task section for mainly him to fill in. Very sweet that they notice that.
This morning A and I are setting off to Norfolk. It's mum's birthday tomorrow and Jo had sorted out a great place for lunch. Very much looking forward to it.
I might even let A get up to walk Hillman tomorrow too. How kind of me.
