It was Edgar's 78th birthday on Sunday and we went out for brunch which was lovely, great to be able to see him so easily. BogA then went off to do some training with his new frisbee team. And that evening we took our bilharzia meds - a pal of ours has had some nasty complications due to the little worm and explained they had just forgotten to take the medication. So we were very happy we'd brought the tablets back and remembered to take them, another thing to tick off the list. We all felt a little strange on it this time, but better than the consequences of not taking it.
Jessie and her family arrived this week, first time we've met the children. It was really lovely to have them stay, all 4 children are delightful, and as the week went on we got to know them more as individuals than 'the children' lovely too to get to know Henry more and see how well they work as parents. Jessie is 26 in September so a very young mum, but she really is great at it. I felt like a very proud aunty. She's so well organised and had arranged lots for them to do, setting off earlyish most days and making the most of the holiday together. As police officers they do a lot of shift work so I know they have enjoyed the simplicity of the routine.
M had a wonderful time in Switzerland. I hadn't realized but she has family there who she got to catch up with. Upon her return to the UK she went off to her gran's to spend some time with her, her brother, aunty and cousins. I'm glad she has them close by. Looking forward to her being home with us soon too.
A has continued to see her friends and enjoy London, we set out on a couple of walks and been shopping together. She's learning the complications of adulthood too, an empty box from superdrug because someone had taken the product out. And money coming out of her bank account that wasn't her, so consequently going to the bank to sort that out. Sadly part of modern life.
I've had time to do a bit more in the garden, clearing the weeds from what was once a kind of seating area and attempting to get rid of some of the dandelions that make up most of what was once the lawn. I've also found a bit of time to do some reading up on the drama GCSE that I'll be teaching.
BigA has tried out a few routes on his bike, although he is often grumpy about the British weather, we have at least had some sun and a chance to dry our clothes in the garden. He continues to keep up frisbee with the new team.
We've also been able to catch up with some good friends this week. Cas was over from Ireland for a short time and popped in and we drove to see a bunch of people who have all, at some point, lived in Malawi. A few heading back and some not.
