quizzing

The phrase damp squib comes to mind at the first khonde sale we tried. It was an odd mix of depressing and cathartic to put out so much stuff, only to have most of it rejected by the small number of people who turned up. But undeterred we will try again and sell what we can. We predict it most likely we will give it all away.

And then I applied for a job. I didn't get shortlisted and felt sad. But there we go!

The evening was a poker night at ours, I was by this point utterly shattered. I played very badly, terrible cards didn't help but I just couldn't get into the flow, so I bowed out and headed to bed.

My work week was the usual mix of meetings, a bit of teaching and report writing. Some hard conversations and the outcome of that to yet be felt fully I think. I did 2 assemblies, talked about legacy and linked it to being kind. I wanted some staff to hear it more than the students. We had a good strategic planning day as SLT which now means I can being some more detailed handovers with other people and talk about who will need to be told. And Thursday was Africa day, it's such a beautiful celebration of the various African cultures and clothes. I love it.

But mainly this week has been about the move back, selling, packing, planning, changing our minds on what to take, and not sure if we're selling things too cheap or not. We've managed to sell quite a bit more on the whatApp group and one of the cars is now gone. Happily we found out that we don't need to worry about the duty on the Bongo which makes selling that loads easier. Which is good because we also have had to have the boiler in our London home replaced! Not cheap 😲

A had a couple more exams, she is ok, a bit of a wobble on one evening but overall I am impressed with how she is balancing studying and not, she's been helping out at frisbee club. Natural born leader.

Last night we had the PTA quiz and curry night. My last PTA event. BIgA and Joe were the quiz masters. It was good fun and they yet again did a great job of setting interesting and different questions from a variety of cultures and times.

This morning I'm already at work, sitting at the school carpark as I wait for any late year 6 students to sit a sort of IQ test. Another last time for me here in Malawi.
