back to the sun and frisbee
Back in the sun and with a full house I got ready for a day of frisbee. Great to play even if I felt very unfit. I was knackered with the running around in the game and in getting food to where it needed to be. It was a very positive day and so well organised by bigA, there were lots of comments on why everyone will miss him. The best part of the day was probably diving into the pool after my last game. We were hosting the after party and despite the noise of the party I was in bed by 9:30 and slept well, all things considered, still in A's bed.
We didn't really have chance at the weekend to appreciate each other until Sunday morning, once the house was was again just us three (and our gardener who bigA had paid to come and tidy up - definitely going to miss that) bigA and I finally began to catch up a bit, I plucked a grapefruit from our tree and brought us both half cut up. I then got to show him and A more of the goodies from the UK. I hadn't gone too wild, enough to then make A crumpets and a peach tea.
Despite his hangover bigA went off to play more frisbee in the afternoon while I made dinner and A and I made an improvised dessert with random stuff we have in the cupboard. This will be my joyous focus for the next 4 months - using up the really random stuff we have bought while living here and random things we've been given. I intend on using two tins of tinned pears next week. I don't quite know what to do with the significant amount of cornflower we have. I gave a huge jar of old yeast to the science department.
Back at work and it was lovely for so many happy faces. They missed me, which was a joy after not being quite right over the previous weeks. My classes too have been very sweet about me not being around and have done so well just getting on with it all. I caught up quite quickly and happily felt like I hadn't gotten too out of touch I did however have to follow up on some difficult conversations that had been left until my return. There has been a little less rain but it is still very warm. I made it to my first school show rehearsal too and I am so very impressed with what is going on. A is magnificent.
All week we've been tracking a cyclone that is breaking all sorts of records, it is getting closer and the rain this morning is think and constant. We've got lots of water ready and candles for when we anticipate the water and power going if it hits Malawi hard.
Yesterday I got feedback from the last job interview and although it was nice to hear that actually I did really well, 4th place really, there wasn't much that I can work on. I'm a great candidate just not quite as strong as the other 3!
There are lots of jobs coming up still but I'm still going to be picky. I haven't heard anything from the maternity cover one. I suppose I just need to let the fates decide.
Strange to think I've only been back just over a week.
I hope you have a lovely week and the weather is kind.
