No snow here
The start of the holidays has been slow and plodding. I did have a cold, not a bad one but annoying. We have all sorts of drugs in our house, I find lemsip the best in these situations. We had plenty from our stash we brought back last December. It helps but I felt eurgh.
I was glad therefore, there was no rushing off somewhere as we're staying put for most of this holiday, so instead a week of the simple tasks around the house and garden. One of these was dyeing A's hair, blue this time. We're getting better at being bold and just slapping it on neat. The results much more interesting. She loves it, even as it fades. We re did it mid week too.
At the beginning of the week I had a things to do list that involved but not exclusively:
- Paint kitchen wall (we don't like the blue)
- Complete new job application x2
- Do INSET for January on retrieval
- Chase my my job here is being advertised
- Deliver some admin training
- Plant out seedlings
- Relocate 2 passion fruit plants
- Follow up MRI - in theory the one in Malawi is now working
- Catch up with some people
- Get Big A something for Christmas that he wants
- Wrap presents
And it's been quite successful - Big A did the wall. I am very happy with it. The kitchen looks loads better I've done around half so far and fait that I've still got a few weeks to do the rest. A and I just kind of hanging out.
Thursday was really lovely, I went for a morning swim, the pool is a really good temperature at the moment, then following on from a chat the day before we had a masseuse come to the house. Each of us had an hour long full body massage. Lush. Then some job application filling in and then re-dyeing A's hair. I then had a long and indulgent bath. We went out for a meal that night with 2 new people, one I met and liked and her partner is lovely too. He does research on the impact of malaria on children and this links to eyes. He was very excited by my angioma and I promised he'd be able to have a good look at it in the new year.
Yesterday the power went off, our solar only really works when there is good sun. But it's better than nothing. It's not on this morning, I think we're in for a few days of load shedding.
We did have people over for poker, using the big battery pack to power a lamp, it was a really good laugh and I made a small profit.
