NOvember 2021 wating for more rain

 late this week.

having just chatted to mum, I feel relieved and still anxious about the trip home. But excited to know that very soon I'll be able to have all those cuddles I've missed.

You know the week feels long when you're struggling to think what happened at the weekend. I had two new friends over for dinner, they are so funny, both nurses and we almost the same age. We laughed so much, that we got together on Tuesday evening as well and are meeting up tonight too. On Thursday, while another pal was over, Bruno brought a snake into the house. So that was fun! It was harmless but I keep thinking that's what he will drop in my bed one morning!

Yesterday I played netball as part of a staff social. It was so hot, but good fun.  I am a lot fitter than this time last year and played really quite well. Got a compliment off a teenager!

I was also, sort of head teacher because Sarah was on a year 7 residential trip. It was international men's day, and the one instruction the boss had left was, make sure Sharon gets the donuts. Well there was a donut crisis; due to demonstrations in town, the shop was shut. Somehow she got hold of about 15 from another shop and we went with crisps and biscuits. Crisis adverted.

However at about 10:30, while I was observing a fellow teacher, I was called out to deal with the next, slightly more serious issue. The demonstrations had got a little out of hand and so it looks like maybe the students wouldn't be picked up. I think it shows how great we are as a school that emails were sent to parents, social media posts, staff on standby and I'm the end they all went home. Well except for one girl who didn't tell her dad where she was going. Do a missing student for about 20mins but found quite quickly.
And I still had two afternoon/evening meetings. But hey, it's Saturday now.

In Ayla news, she got her first year  10 report and she is doing so well.
Almost everything exemplary.
And fun last week...
I won't send the whole newsletter - but here is A teaching the club!

karate Club

This week we learnt a new downwards block that is used to stop grabbing and sidekicks. Then the class split into groups of two and created their own routines consisting of punching, blocking, and kicking, with long and short stances - this was social distanced of course for covid safety and so that no one hurt anyone - some groups performed their routines, which were amazing, and they all did really well. At the end of the lesson, we went over the first kata, a sequence of movements – which everyone knew so we just focused in on the stances and turning.
