January 2022 - half way
It already feels so long ago. We're at Addis, just arrived. Not much sleep for any of us so it feels like it is still Friday.
The first day of 2022 was very pleasant, BiGA and I took a COVID test and happily both negative. So we met with my aunty T uncle K and cousin C and for the first time, her husband N. A very nice walk and catch up was had. Keith seemed in good health too which was good to see. Both of them turning 60 this year.
That evening I cooked a dad special, Sulaman's pilaf, a favourite of mine, made with memories of him and the left over lamb, that only D and I enjoyed to its full of course (the rest of the table being vegetarian). The time there felt short but warm and loving.
And so the next day we set off on the last leg of the UK stint. Off to London. We have been able to catch up with a few people and happily spent time with E, Dand D. D cooked for us too, one meal in particular was really delicious, made with coconut milk. I may try to recreate that in Malawi if we can source miso paste.
I have been reminded just how much I love moving around London, the accessibility and ability to walk so many places so easily.
Was sad not to see everyone.
Missing you so much
