April 2021 cold mornings and evenings

As Monday was a holiday the week has felt short, next week we are likely to just have three days due to Eid and a Malawi national holiday on Friday.

Year 11 to 13 had their last full day this week and now they are on study leave, we have a real mix of exam situations. I'm so very pleased that I'm not in charge of that part of school.
For me this means the precious 'gained time'
An interesting education phrase that means you find yourself with less teaching. Any teacher who taught those year groups is now able to get on with other stuff, this year, many of them will have to use it marking and moderating the exams. Something they haven't had to do before. Exam boards normally do that
Happily for me my exam classes are all Btec so no extra work for me.

I've had an interesting week, some fun and some not so nice, dealing with a staff HR thing. But it seems to be resolved now.

Dad going into hospital was of course not nice to know, we were all so worried, and even though no one had met any of you her you have had and prayers.
A took it harder than I expected and she was very worried for you dad. She reached out to a friend to talk this through and it was good to see that she was able to find ways to help herself. But we had some tears and lots of cuddles.

BigA seems to have been working more effectively this week too, and he's had a glimpse of the joys of teaching or running programs online. I certainly don't miss that and hope we never have to worry about that again. Cases of covid-19 remain very low. Only an average of 12 over a 7 day period at the moment.

The cat has been fine this week, well, he bit A on the mouth but more playful then worrying. I try not to let my head near his.

And it's getting cold, once the sun is gone, so is it's warmth. So I've been wrapped up in blankets with hot water bottles. The sun has set by 5:30 and it truly feels like Winter is here early.

Hope that the sun is shining lots for you and that mum, you're getting to enjoy some rest from carers and all that.
If dad isn't reading these, give him a big kids from me and tell him how much we love him.
